Dubai has officially launched its first drone delivery service for food, medicine and other essentials, a groundbreaking initiative by Keeta Drone, after the company received its commercial license from the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. The announcement was made during a ceremony at Dubai Silicon Oasis on Tuesday (December 17). Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, inaugurated the service, which promises to revolutionize logistics in the emirate. “This project underscores Dubai’s commitment to a diversified, flexible digital economy powered by advanced technology,” Sheikh Hamdan said. Initially, the drone service will operate across four routes within Dubai Silicon Oasis, serving key locations like Rochester Institute of Technology and Dubai Digital Park. The M-Drone Gen 3, a six-rotor drone capable of carrying 2.3kg, spearheads the network. Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, Director-General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, revealed ambitious plans for expansion. “Our goal is to cover 33 percent of Dubai by 2030. This service aligns with our vision for smart mobility and a sustainable future,” he said. Keeta Drone collaborates with institutions such as Fakeeh University Hospital and Americana to explore medical and emergency applications of its technology. The drones are also touted as an eco-friendly alternative to conventional delivery methods, with studies showing they emit 84 percent less greenhouse gases per package compared to diesel vehicles.
