Dubai lifts total lockdown restrictions in Al Ras, Naif

DUBAI – The total lockdown of Dubai’s Al Ras and Naif due to Covid-19 has been lifted, but movement restrictions between 10pm and 6am will still be enforced in line with the rest of the UAE. Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management eased the lockdown in the two districts on Sunday after no new Covid-19 cases were reported there in the last two days. The heavily populated areas have seen intensive disinfection operations and medical testing. Specialist teams carried out more than 6,000 tests in the two areas in less than a month. During the total lockdown, volunteers worked to deliver essential supplies to residents who have been told they can’t leave their homes during the disinfection period. On Friday, authorities in Dubai relaxed the 24-hour lockdown across the emirate to allow people to leave their homes from 6am to 10pm during Ramadan. The easing of movement restrictions also saw malls, cafés and restaurants reopened. Meanwhile, the number of coronavirus cases in the UAE jumped to 10,349 on Sunday after the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention announced 536 new Covid-19 cases.
