Dubai's Mall of Emirates, City Centre Deira, and City Centre Mirdif will introduce a new barrierless parking system starting January 1, 2025, according to a recent announcement from Parkin Company, the provider of the new parking technology. This change comes as part of a five-year contract between Parkin and Majid Al Futtaim Properties, which manages these shopping malls. Parkin, a Dubai-listed public joint stock company, has developed a seamless parking system designed to improve access to these popular malls, which collectively serve over 20 million vehicles annually. The system uses advanced camera technology to capture vehicle license plates as cars enter and exit the parking facilities, eliminating the need for traditional barrier gates. The new system will cover a total of 21,000 parking spaces across the three malls. The parking fees for these malls will remain unchanged despite the technology upgrade, and drivers will receive parking cost notifications through SMS or the Parkin app. Payments can be processed via the app or through Parkin’s website, offering a faster, smoother experience for mall-goers. “We are confident that our new smart systems will reduce congestion and create a smoother traffic flow, enhancing the overall customer experience at some of Dubai's busiest retail destinations,” said Mohamed Abdulla Al Ali, CEO of Parkin. Parkin has been expanding its services across various high-traffic locations, including malls and airports, in line with its strategy to become a major player in the smart parking industry. The new system at the Mall of Emirates and other shopping centers will mirror similar installations, such as the barrierless parking system already operational at Dubai Mall and managed by Salik.
