The Dubai Mall became the “most visited place on earth” with 105 million visitors in 2023, according to property developer Emaar.
The number of visitors reflects a 19 percent increase from the previous year’s record of 88 million visitors.
For January and February this year, more than 20 million people have already visited Dubai Mall, indicating another record-breaking year for the biggest mall in Dubai.
Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar said the increased footfall also led to strong sales. “These numbers reflect Dubai Mall‘s impressive status and mirrors the forward-thinking leadership and strong economy of Dubai,” said Emaar founder Mohamed Alabbar.
“Our mall embodies the city’s vibrant spirit and dedication to excellence, turning the leadership’s vision into a reality. Being an integral part of Dubai’s economic fabric, we play a crucial role in the city’s success and innovation,” Alabbar said.
“This wide range of nationalities not only underscored the mall’s worldwide charm but also reflected the cosmopolitan culture of Dubai itself,” he added.
Dubai Mall, located next to the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa, features over 1,200 retail stores, two major department stores and hundreds of food and beverage outlets. Its size is equivalent to 200 football pitches, covering an area of more than 1 million sqm. It also has a Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo and an Olympic-sized Dubai Ice Rink.
In 2019, it expanded with the opening of the Dubai Mall Zabeel extension that is linked to the Dubai Mall with a fully-airconditioned link bridge. Last year, it opened its Chinatown district with restaurants serving Chinese and Asian food.
