The Dubai Mallathon wrapped up on Sunday (August 31), but not before cementing its place in the record books: A new Guinness World Record. Dubai has made history with the first-ever Dubai Mallathon, which has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records for hosting the most runners in a mall run event. The record-breaking feat was achieved at Dubai Hills Mall on Saturday (August 30). Announcing the achievement, organizers thanked residents for their overwhelming participation: “YOU did it! One team, one mission. Together, you set a new world record and made our community proud. Dubai is proud of YOU. And today, your pride has been written in history… A true reflection of your unity, perseverance, and the spirit of our city.”

Launched on August 1 by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, the month-long initiative transformed nine popular malls into free indoor fitness tracks, open daily from 7am to 10am. Recently, some malls extended timings to open as early as 6am for runners. The participating malls included Dubai Mall, Dubai Hills Mall, City Centre Deira, City Centre Mirdif, Mall of the Emirates, Dubai Marina Mall, and The Springs Souk. The initiative offered a unique solution to beat the UAE summer heat, providing climate-controlled pathways for walking and running.
