Dubai: Man faces life imprisonment for murdering cheating girlfriend

A 32-year-old man was given a life sentence for killing his girlfriend who cheated on him. The case details date back to July 2019, when the young man entered a police station in Dubai, clothes stained with blood. The duty officer said that he instructed his coworkers to detain the individual. The officer then went to check the man's car, where he discovered a girl who had been stabbed numerous times throughout her body and had her neck slit. A large knife was also found in the back seat of the vehicle. The crime scene unit was called in to collect the evidence. When the officer interrogated the criminal, he said, "Sir, I killed my girlfriend." The accused claimed that he had been dating the victim for five years when he discovered she was dating someone else. He spoke to her family in her home country, who asked him to bring her with him to their house. The accused decided to talk to his girlfriend about this and to kill her if she refused. He continued by saying that he purchased a knife intending to use it, and stored it in his car. He pulled into a parking space close to the victim's home the evening of the incident and requested her to meet him there. She came and sat next to him in the passenger seat, and they talked about returning to her home country. According to the accused, the chat lasted for almost three hours. He had confessed his love for her and his desire to marry her. The woman, in response, said that her family did not want her to marry him and refused. The man added that she insulted him as well. He then stabbed her in the neck and different places in her body, even though she begged him to stop. Once she was dead, he returned the knife to the back seat and turned himself into a police station. He acknowledged stabbing the victim when testifying in court, and the judge sentenced him to life in jail as punishment after finding him guilty. BKM/ Expat Media
