A young Arab man discovered a bag containing Dh276,000 on Dubai's Baniyas Road and kept it inside his home, instead of reporting it to the police. The cops tracked and apprehended him with the bag and the money in his possession. The accused was referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution and then to the Dubai Misdemeanor Court, which fined him Dh10,000. The case began in October of last year when an employee submitted a complaint alleging that he had lost a bag holding Dh276,000 and belonged to a trading company for which he worked. According to his statement, his manager assigned him to deposit money in the company's bank accounts. He went to the bank on an electric scooter he used to get around Dubai, adding that he hung the bag near the handlebar and did not notice that it fell on his way. He returned to the same road he had taken after realizing he had lost the bag, hoping to find it. As he did not find the bag, he informed the police accordingly. A team of detectives reviewed the video cameras in the neighborhood and discovered that a young Arab man had found the bag that had fallen from the complainant. BKM/ Expat Media
