A man in Dubai has been caught forging his deceased father's signature in an attempt to steal inheritance—thanks to the advanced forensic technologies of Dubai Police. The case came to light when the man’s younger brother filed a complaint, accusing him of fraudulently excluding him from the inheritance. The brother claimed that the accused took advantage of having lived with their father and obtained an inheritance certificate falsely in his name after the father’s passing. Dubai Police’s General Department of Forensic Science and Criminology took over the case, using forensic document analysis to compare the signature on the inheritance papers with authentic samples signed by the deceased. “The signature was proven to be forged, and the inheritance rights were restored to the rightful heir,” confirmed Mona Salem Al Suwaidi, a document examination expert at Dubai Police. Colonel Dr. Ali Khalifa Al Falasi, head of the department, explained: “We verify documents like wills and death certificates using smart tools and databases. We can even cross-check with old records from banks and other official sources.” He added that inheritance-related forgeries are one of the most common types of fraud they encounter. “Some people think they can escape legal consequences and steal what isn’t theirs. But tampering with inheritance documents is a crime punishable by law.” Dubai Police emphasized their continued commitment to combating forgery and safeguarding the legal rights of residents using cutting-edge technology.
