An Asian man and his girlfriend have been jailed and fined a total of Dh200,000 for using drugs in a hotel room. The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced the duo to ten years in jail and fined them Dh100,000 each. They will be deported after serving their sentences. The case dates back to August 2022 when Dubai Police received a tipoff that the man carried drugs at a hotel in the Al Nahda area. A police raid found that the man and his girlfriend were using illegal drugs in the hotel room that their friend rented. Police seized various narcotic substances in the hotel room as well as in the man’s vehicle. During interrogation, the man told police that the illegal drugs were given to him by a friend who had left the country. ICA/Expat Media
