The Dubai Criminal Court sentenced a 43-year-old Arab man to five years in prison and fined him Dh50,000 for possessing, using, and distributing narcotic substances. The case began in May last year when the General Department of Narcotics Control got credible evidence indicating that the accused was in the Silicon Oasis region possessing and using illegal substances. A team of investigators confirmed the accuracy of the information. The Public Prosecution issued a warrant, and the defendant was apprehended, according to the case file. Narcotic substances were discovered during a raid, and some other people were intoxicated and suspected of being under the influence of narcotics or psychiatric chemicals. During interrogation, the defendants admitted to using the cannabis the accused had given them for free. The verdict pertaining to the accused was made by the Criminal Court, while the others were reported to the Misdemeanours Court on drug usage allegations. They will be deported after serving a sentence. BKM/ Expat MediaFor all the latest news from the UAE and the world, follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and subscribe to our YouTube page
