After an argument turned into a fistfight, a 34-year-old worker attacked his roommate inside the workers' accommodation. According to police records, the incident occurred in July 2021 in a workers' accommodation in Al Quoz, Dubai. The Dubai Police Operations Room was notified that a worker had been attacked with a knife inside his room. Police arrived at the crime site and discovered the victim lying in the middle of the room, covered in blood, with the knife used beside him. A paramedic examined the victim and found him dead. According to a police officer, during the interrogation with those present, the criminal admitted to committing the crime with a knife found next to the victim. The defendant alleged that the victim was his friend and that they had an altercation earlier after the victim insulted and attempted to assault him inside his room at the workers' residence. He said he had no intention of killing him and that what he did was in response to the victim's actions. The worker was convicted and sentenced to five years in prison by the Dubai Criminal Court. After finishing his term, he will be deported from the state. The Court of Appeal then enhanced the punishment to seven years in prison, followed by the convict's deportation. BKM/ Expat Media
