The Dubai Marathon is teaming up with Guinness World Records to give participants a once-in-a-lifetime chance to set or break world records during the iconic race on January 12, 2025. This initiative brings a unique twist to one of the region's most celebrated sporting events, encouraging runners to achieve extraordinary feats while crossing the finish line. According to Guinness World Records, participants can attempt various records, such as running in costumes for charity, dribbling a basketball, or even running blindfolded. Other quirky challenges include completing the marathon dressed as a doctor, hula-hooping, or balancing an egg on a spoon. Family pairs, such as mother-daughter and father-son duos, can also create their own record categories. "This partnership with the Dubai Marathon aligns perfectly with our mission to inspire communities to embrace sports while giving them a chance to enter the record books," said Shaddy Gaad, Senior Marketing Manager at Guinness World Records. "Participants will enjoy expedited processing and immediate consideration for their record approval, free of charge." Dubai Marathon Event Director Peter Connerton echoed the enthusiasm, adding that this initiative is open to all registered runners. "We aim to combine the thrill of running with the joy of achieving something memorable. However, record attempts involving charitable donations must comply with UAE laws," Connerton explained. The event includes various distance categories, ensuring everyone, from elite athletes to casual joggers, has an opportunity to participate. For those looking to set a record, pre-registration is required through the Guinness World Records website, where participants can also access detailed guidelines. Runners attempting records will be featured on Guinness World Records' official platforms, amplifying their achievements to a global audience.
