The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) launched a scholarship program for 15 students born on September 9, 2009 to celebrate Dubai Metro's 15th anniversary today. The scholarship programme will support students in three phases: The first phase, which lasts two years, includes hands-on training at RTA during summer and winter breaks, participation in railway training programmes with partners, and field visits to railway project sites. The second phase will cover the students' university study period where they receive scholarships to earn a specialised bachelor's degree in railway-related engineering. They also get to join training programmes at RTA during summer and winter breaks, participate in leadership forums and events organised by RTA, and do field visits to railway project sites. In the third phase, after graduating from the university, scholars will work for the rail agency and join RTA's 'Fast Track' programme for engineers. This two-year program will improve their technical and management skills. They will also have chances for quick career growth and become future specialists at RTA. They will also earn accredited certifications in Project Management and Value Engineering, along with additional technical training. On this celebration, Mattar Al Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), said, "RTA remains steadfast in its mission to cultivate and empower Emirati talent. By fostering a nurturing environment, we are preparing a new generation of leaders capable of anticipating future challenges and crafting innovative solutions to drive Dubai's progress. This effort will contribute to advancing RTA's growth and development agenda, both now and in the future.”
Just in July this year, RTA launched the 'Professional Engineering Career Path' initiative to offer a clear career path for specialized engineers and improve job stability. They also introduced the 'Fast Track' initiative to attract top Emirati engineering graduates and help them develop the necessary skills to become future specialists at RTA.
