The Dubai Metro Music Festival. ARCHIVE
Dubai Metro stations are set to come alive with daily musical performances as the Dubai Metro Music Festival returns for its fourth edition from September 21 to 27. Organized by Brand Dubai in collaboration with the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), the festival will feature 20 musicians from the UAE and around the world. The performances will be held at five major metro stations: Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, BurJuman, Union, and Dubai Multi Commodities Centre. Each day, from 5pm to 10pm, these stations will be transformed into live music venues, creating a vibrant atmosphere for commuters and visitors alike. The event promises a diverse lineup of musicians showcasing a wide range of instruments and genres. From traditional to avant-garde music, the festival aims to provide something for every taste. Instruments featured will include the Qanun, keyboard, drums, accordion, flute, violin, saxophone, piano, and various unique percussion instruments. The festival will also highlight innovative performances using homemade instruments crafted from everyday objects. In a special touch, performances will rotate across the stations to ensure a unique experience for daily commuters. This year's edition includes several standout acts, such as a nine-year-old prodigy on the Qanun and a 14-year-old Emirati pianist with autism. There will also be a musical showcase featuring instruments made from recycled materials, beatboxing acts, and even puppet shows accompanied by live music. The festival aims to cater to all age groups, with special drumming shows featuring children and dynamic drumming acts with light effects. For the first time, performances will also take place inside metro cabins, offering passengers a memorable musical journey.
