Under UAE traffic law, using a mobile phone while driving results in an Dh800 fine and four black points on a driver’s record. Violators also face a possible 30-day impoundment of their vehicle. In Dubai, impounded vehicles can only be released to their owners once a fine of Dh50,000 is paid. Dubai’s ongoing Safe Road for Everyone campaign, spearheaded by Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, aims to raise awareness about these risks, reinforcing that road safety isn’t just a guideline—it’s a necessity. This particular incident is a reminder that the consequences of distracted driving aren’t limited to fines; lives are at stake.
