Yacht crew members can now apply for a multiple-entry visa to Dubai, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) announced on Saturday (February 22) during the Dubai International Boat Show 2025. The newly launched visa, which is valid for six months, is designed to provide greater flexibility for professionals working in Dubai’s booming yachting industry. Held at Dubai Harbour, the 31st edition of the Dubai International Boat Show has become one of the Middle East’s most prestigious maritime events. The show, which began on February 19, will run until February 23. During the event, GDRFA showcased several services tailored to the maritime sector, including Mobile Marina, Work Bundle, Platform 04, and the Dubai Residency Community Network. “This new visa scheme enhances Dubai’s position as a global yachting hub, making it easier for crew members to work and move in and out of the emirate efficiently,” a GDRFA spokesperson said. In recent years, the UAE has taken multiple steps to attract high-net-worth individuals and skilled professionals in the maritime industry. In December 2024, Abu Dhabi introduced a Golden Visa program exclusively for superyacht owners, offering long-term residency benefits. Designed to entice high-net-worth individuals, Abu Dhabi’s Golden Visa unlocks luxury lifestyle perks, business opportunities, and a decade-long residency for recipients and their families. Meanwhile, Dubai’s new six-month multiple-entry visa is aimed at enhancing the UAE’s reputation as a world-class maritime destination. Experts say this move will boost tourism and the yachting sector, which already contributes significantly to the UAE’s economy.
