Dubai is set to implement significant changes to its public parking fees with the introduction of the Variable Parking Tariff Policy by the end of March, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced. Under the new system, premium parking spaces will cost Dh6 per hour, while other public paid parking spaces will be priced at Dh4 per hour during morning peak hours from 8am to 10am and evening peak hours from 4pm to 8pm. Outside these hours, the existing tariff structure will remain unchanged, with parking fees waived entirely from 10pm to 8am and all day on Sundays. An RTA spokesperson said the revised pricing reflects the growing demand for parking spaces in high-traffic areas, emphasizing that the changes aim to strike a balance between affordability and effective traffic management. “Our goal is to optimize parking space utilization and ensure that motorists have convenient access to parking during critical hours,” the spokesperson said. In addition to peak-hour tariffs, a new Congestion Pricing Policy will be introduced for event areas, beginning February 2025. Parking fees around event zones, such as the Dubai World Trade Centre, will be set at Dh25 per hour during major events. This measure is expected to reduce congestion and encourage the use of public transportation for event attendees. The RTA is rolling out this policy as part of its broader mobility strategy, which includes integrating smart technologies for parking management and providing real-time updates through the RTA mobile app. The RTA encourages residents and visitors to explore alternative transportation methods such as the Dubai Metro, buses, and ride-sharing services to mitigate parking costs.
