Motorists in Dubai should prepare for changes in public parking fees starting April, as authorities introduce new variable rates based on peak and off-peak hours. Parkin, the company managing public parking in Dubai, confirmed that time-based pricing will soon apply, affecting daily commuters and event-goers alike. From early April, premium parking spaces in all public zones will charge Dh6 per hour during peak hours from 8am to 10am, and from 4pm to 8pm. Daily parking rates will cost Dh40 in Zone B and Dh30 in Zone D. Meanwhile, special high-demand areas, particularly near major events or conferences, will have premium pricing at Dh25 per hour. The new system is part of Dubai’s effort to manage parking demand and encourage drivers to use alternative transport options, particularly during rush hours. A similar approach has been applied to Salik toll gates, where dynamic pricing was introduced to reduce traffic congestion. “Adjusting fees based on demand ensures that high-traffic areas have available parking spaces,” a Parkin spokesperson said. Commuters are advised to plan ahead to avoid peak-hour rates.
