Filipinos gathered in Dubai for the Paskong Palarong Pinoy by the Filipino Social Club (FilSoc), transforming the Pakistan Association grounds into a festive haven. The event on Sunday (December 17) saw a turnout of more than 2,225 attendees, according to FilSoc. “Witnessing the community come together was heartwarming, and it was a testament to the shared joy and camaraderie that define the holiday season,” said Ellanie Villena, FilSoc Vice President, and main organizer of the event. "Paskong Palarong Pinoy truly exemplified the spirit of Christmas, bringing the community together in a celebration of culture, unity, and joy,” Villena added. Paskong Palarong Pinoy was graced by Philippine Consul General of Dubai and Northern Emirates Renato Dueñas, and Filipino community leaders, including FilSoc President Ericson Reyes. “At this special holiday season, I hope you take the time to reflect on the many blessings of your life and the privilege to be of service to others. The Filipino Social Club will continue to be the home of every Filipino in our community here in Dubai and the other Emirates,” Reyes said. The event's highlight included sports events, including a children’s football match, as well as basketball, football, and volleyball. Attendees also received gifts, which were handed out to children and senior citizens. The gift-giving “brought smiles and joy, creating heartwarming moments that captured the essence of the season,” according to FilSoc. There was a also a bingo game and raffle draw featuring the biggest prizes, which included home appliances and a roundtrip ticket to the Philippines courtesy of Philippine Airlines. Visitors were also entertained with parlor games, a magic show and Zumba sessions. At the bazaar area, attendees were able to avail of free services, including a haircut and medical checkup. WCOPA, Emanon Band, Filipino Kasambahay Club provided entertainment throughout the event, creating an unforgettable musical experience.
