Probe into Dubai plane crash that killed 4 near airport

DUBAI – Investigation is underway to find out the cause of a plane crash in Dubai that killed four people on Thursday. Three British nationals and a South African were killed when a twin-engine propeller aircraft crashed about 5 kilometres south of the airport, according to the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority. Technology manufacturing company, Honeywell International, said its employee was among those killed in the crash near Dubai International Airport. Initial investigation revealed that the plane crashed due to a technical malfunction, according to the Dubai Media Office. Officials identified the aircraft as a Diamond DA42 model that belongs to a third party hired by Honeywell. The team in the four-seater plane was in Dubai to calibrate navigation systems at the airport. Dubai International is currently undergoing repair work on one of its two runways. Repair works are expected to end on May 30.
