A rare vehicle plate number sold for Dh37 million during a charity auction in Dubai, making it the most expensive plate number sold in the UAE so far this year. The plate DD 6 attracted intense bidding during the Most Noble Number charity auction held at the Armani Hotel Dubai inside the Burj Khalifa on Saturday (March 7). The auction formed part of a Suhoor event organised by the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives to raise funds for the Edge of Life campaign. In total, bidding on special vehicle plates generated Dh81.5 million during the event.

Top vehicle plate bids

The highest bids for RTA plates included: • Dh37 million for DD 6 • Dh9 million for DD 16 • Dh8.9 million for DD 99 • Dh6.4 million for DD 25 • Dh6.1 million for DD 30 • Dh5.1 million for DD 100 • Dh5.1 million for DD 999 • Dh2 million for DD 7000 • Dh1.9 million for DD 22222 The plates were offered by the Roads and Transport Authority and auctioned in collaboration with Emirates Auction.

Fighting hunger

Proceeds from the charity auction will support the Edge of Life campaign, launched during Ramadan by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The initiative aims to raise at least Dh1 billion to help rescue five million children from hunger around the world. Mohammad Al Gergawi said the campaign has drawn strong support from individuals and institutions. “The Most Noble Number charity auction highlighted the UAE community’s deeply rooted values of compassion and solidarity,” he said.
