Dubai Police have arrested two masked thieves just moments before they could flee the country after stealing Dh660,000 from a supermarket. The Bur Dubai Police Station received a theft report early in the morning, and within two hours, officers had identified and arrested the suspects at Dubai International Airport. According to police, the two men had meticulously planned their crime, breaking into the supermarket’s back entrance using sharp tools. They forced open four cash boxes containing Dh60,000, then cracked open the store’s main safe to steal another Dh600,000 before escaping. The crime was discovered by an employee who arrived before opening hours and immediately called the police. A rapid-response team, including forensic experts and CID investigators, quickly secured the scene and analyzed the evidence. Despite the thieves’ efforts to conceal their identities with masks, investigators used artificial intelligence tools, data analysis, and surveillance footage to track their movements and confirm their identities. Thanks to swift coordination between Bur Dubai Police Station and the General Department of Airport Security, the suspects were intercepted at the airport with the stolen cash fully recovered. The duo has since been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
