The Dubai Police announced on Monday (December 26) the arrest of a total of 432 notorious criminal gang leaders wanted for drug crimes, murder, money laundering and armed robbery. The arrests were made in the last two years, with 379 wanted persons extradited to more than 30 different countries, according to Dubai Police. Police also repatriated 65 people wanted for murder, armed robbery, deadly assault, theft and other financial crimes worth Dh517 million. Major General Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, Director of the General Department of Criminal Investigation, said police used sophisticated surveillance technologies to arrest criminals. “Over the past two years, we have exchanged 1,830 security tips with member states of Interpol through the National Office of the Ministry of Interior and carried out successful joint international operations that dismantled transnational criminal syndicates and brought down drug and crime lords,” Al Jallaf said. In November, Dubai Police worked with police forces from six countries to arrest drug lords who were part of the cocaine “super cartel” in Europe. The operation led to the arrest of 49 drug kingpins and members of a prolific transnational criminal network involved in large-scale drug trafficking and money laundering crimes. Among the high-profile crime lords arrested by Dubai include French drug lord Moufide “The Ghost” Bouchibi and Raffaele Imperiale of the Camorra crime syndicate. ICA/Expat Media
