A driver who ran over an African woman, 36, who was waiting next to a pedestrian crossing sign in Dubai was arrested by Dubai Police. The woman was taken to the hospital to be treated for a severe injury caused by the accident. The police revealed that the criminal had gone to an unknown location to escape the crime scene. He left his car with the engine still running. He was arrested within two hours of the incident. The police station said a report was received at 3am on Sunday, stating that a woman had been run over near a pedestrian signal within his jurisdiction. The police claimed that the vehicle was moved off the road and that the suspect's specifications were passed around as cameras monitored the accident scene. The accused was found to have crossed the green light while speeding and moving to the left hazardously. He ran over the woman hard as she stood at the stop sign, which caused him to lose control of the car. Within two hours, the CID team was able to locate the suspect, who later admitted to his involvement in the accident, and make an arrest.
