In a 2022 campaign against unlicensed massage services, the Dubai Police closed 91 apartments. The Dubai Police General Command recently issued a new warning, advising residents not to use such services because they pose serious risks, including extortion and murder. The Director of the General Department of Criminal, Major General Jamal Salem Al Jallaf, acknowledged that the Dubai Police had started several campaigns to stop this illegal activity. The force sought out the locations and owners of such unlicensed businesses to inform the public about the harmful services offered by such centers. Distributors of massage cards for vehicles have also been taken into custody by the authorities. For breaking the law and providing unlicensed services, 91 flats have been sealed this year, according to Major General Jamal, who noted that the Dubai Police sealed them in coordination with strategic partners. The Dubai CID director reaffirmed that maintaining public safety is a joint obligation of the Dubai Police and residents. He urged people to call 901 or use the "Police Eye" service through the Dubai Police smart app to report any shady, illegal, or suspicious activity, including these unlicensed centers and their promoters. Al Jallaf added that anybody wishing to hire a massage parlor could easily confirm that by contacting the relevant organizations. Licensed massage parlors are registered with Dubai Economic and Tourism, he said.
