Dubai Police has intensified their crackdown on illegal bicycles, motorcycles, and e-scooters across the emirate, with hundreds of vehicles being confiscated due to violations of transport laws. Residents in high-traffic areas, including International City and Naif, have reported confiscations. A Pakistani restaurant owner, identified as H.S., told Expat Media that two of his delivery motorcycles were seized earlier this month. “Both of them were not yet registered,” he admitted. Dubai Police confirmed that thousands of vehicles have been confiscated, particularly in business districts, due to multiple violations. Offenders were found riding e-scooters and bicycles in non-designated areas, including roads and pedestrian lanes, posing significant risks to public safety. Authorities have repeatedly emphasized the importance of adhering to transport regulations. E-scooter and bicycle riders must use designated lanes and avoid walking or jogging paths. Additionally, carrying passengers or heavy goods that could affect balance is strictly prohibited. Other safety measures include dismounting at pedestrian crossings, wearing helmets, and refraining from riding against traffic. Violations of these rules have led to numerous accidents, prompting authorities to enforce stricter penalties. Dubai Police have also warned delivery riders to ensure their motorcycles are properly registered and meet safety requirements. Many unregistered vehicles used for food delivery services have been impounded. Increased patrols and surveillance cameras have been deployed across high-risk areas to monitor compliance. Offenders caught riding in restricted zones or without the necessary permits face immediate confiscation of their vehicles and potential fines. Authorities are urging the public to follow safety regulations and only use approved routes.
