A Dubai Police marine rescue diver recovers a Filipina tourist’s lost gold chain in Hatta Dam. DUBAI POLICE
A routine day at Hatta Dam took a golden turn when Dubai Police marine rescue divers swiftly responded to a distressed Filipina tourist and retrieved her precious gold chain from the water. The Ports Police Station’s Maritime Rescue Department, alerted by a call from the dam, deployed divers moments after the tourist reported her gold necklace had slipped into the reservoir while she was taking photos from the floating pier. “The woman was obviously upset over the loss of the gold chain. To make the tourist happy, rescue divers from the marine rescue unit recovered the gold chain,” said Major Marwan Al Kaabi, head of the marine and rescue unit. Major Al Kaabi—a veteran diver—also noted that this operation is typical of the unit’s work, with 26 marine-related operations recorded in 2025 alone. He emphasized the unit's mission: “We are ready to deal with emergencies on the beaches and we are alert to respond appropriately to any form of accidents.” This rescue echoes a similar incident in April, when diver teams recovered another Asian tourist’s gold necklace. The maritime rescue unit's quick response highlights Dubai Police’s commitment to public safety on its water bodies.
