The fifth edition of the Dubai Police Esports Tournament officially kicked off on Friday (August 14) at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf, drawing more than 1,500 registered players from across the UAE and abroad. The four-day gaming showdown, running until August 17, offers a total prize pool of Dh200,000 across eight competitive titles. The tournament, open to male and female gamers aged 10 to 35, features a mix of international esports hits and community favourites — including Valorant, DOTA 2, EAFC 25 (singles), Counter-Strike 2, Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Capture the Flag, and the Dubai Police Game Jam. Matches begin daily at 10am. The event began with an introductory session for players’ families, underlining Dubai Police’s commitment to balancing gaming enthusiasm with digital safety awareness. Parents were briefed on issues such as cybercrime in online games, online fraud, blackmail, and the importance of safeguarding personal data during in-game chats. The session also highlighted the police’s “Ecrime” reporting platform and the UAE’s online awareness hub at ecrimehub.gov.ae “This year’s tournament promises four days of top-tier competition, immersive experiences, and incredible prizes,” Dubai Police said in a statement. “Esports is more than a game—it’s a movement. We want to empower youth while promoting digital safety and balance.” Beyond the competitions, attendees can explore the latest gaming technology, meet some of the UAE’s top esports talents, and participate in fun contests designed for both players and parents. Dubai Police has been hosting the event annually as part of its wider initiative to engage with the community, especially young people, through sports and technology while reinforcing safety and wellbeing. The tournament also serves as a platform to promote secure financial transactions, encourage moderate gameplay for mental and physical health, and foster a sense of responsibility in the fast-growing esports culture.
