Dmitry Oshchepkov was overjoyed when he received his iPhone 14 Pro. DUBAI POLICE

A Russian tourist in Dubai got his smartphone back after it fell into the Hatta Dam, thanks to the help of Dubai Police. Dmitry Oshchepkov was overjoyed when he received his iPhone 14 Pro after it fell into the water while he was in a boat in the Hatta Dam. The tourist said the phone contained important files and photos. Lieutenant Colonel Ali Abdullah Al Naqbi, Head of Maritime Rescue Department, said that two teams were sent out to find and retrieve the iPhone despite low visibility in the deep waters. This is not the first time that Dubai Police has helped tourists recover important items lost at sea. In 2019, Dubai Police helped retrieve a tourist’s luxury watch that fell into the sea while he was at a beachfront restaurant on Palm Jumeirah. ICA/Expat Media
