Dubai helps Canada seize $37m worth of opium hidden in pallets

A tip-off from Dubai Police helped Canada seize a record 2.5 tonnes of opium worth $37 million that was being transported to Vancouver. The opium was hidden in 247 shipping pallets that arrived in 19 shipping containers, according to Dubai Police. The shipment was seized in Vancouver in December. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Assistant Commissioner Will Ng said the joint investigation “undoubtedly put a dent in organised crime”. Ng thanked the General Department of Anti-Narcotics at Dubai Police for its timely tip-off regarding the illegal shipment. ICA/Expat Media
