Dubai Police have impounded 28 vehicles whose owners accumulated unpaid traffic fines exceeding Dh6,000, as part of intensified inspection campaigns to curb violations and promote safer roads. The operation, led by the General Department of Traffic’s Violations Monitoring Department, aims to enforce the law and remind motorists to stay compliant with all traffic and vehicle regulations. According to Dubai Police, several of the impounded vehicles had outstanding fines for serious offences, including reckless driving, speeding, and expired licences. Authorities revealed that some motorists had ignored repeated reminders to settle their fines or renew their licences. Officials clarified that the measure falls under the traffic law authorizing impoundment of vehicles with fines over Dh6,000. The crackdown is part of ongoing efforts to reduce reckless behavior and enhance public safety on Dubai’s roads. Police urged residents to regularly check and pay fines through official channels such as the Dubai Police app and website to avoid penalties or vehicle confiscation. “Motorists must take responsibility for ensuring their documents are up to date and all fines are settled promptly,” an official statement said.
