Dubai Police has impounded 176 vehicles and issued 251 fines for reckless driving and illegal stunts over the past three months. The traffic campaign, which ran from July to September, targeted drivers who performed dangerous acts in residential areas, endangering public safety and disturbing the peace. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that these violators exhibited a blatant disregard for road safety, with many offenders engaging in chaotic driving behaviors for social media clout. “This reckless behavior encourages others to follow suit, increasing the risk for all road users,” Al Mazrouei said. The impounded vehicles were seized after police observed dangerous activities across Dubai, with hotspots in areas like Nad Al Sheba and Al Meydan Street. Violations included sitting on the roofs of moving vehicles and performing stunts that posed a risk to other drivers and pedestrians. Al Mazrouei stressed that Dubai Police will continue to enforce strict measures against reckless driving. Under new regulations, violators face penalties of up to Dh50,000 to retrieve impounded vehicles, with the possibility of permanent confiscation in severe cases. In addition to impoundments, Dubai Police released footage of some of the most egregious violations, including vehicles performing stunts on the Meydan Bridge.
