Reckless e-scooter riders are flagged down by a Dubai Police officer. DUBAI POLICE

The Dubai Police issued a fresh warning on the reckless use of e-scooters that led to five deaths and more than 10,000 violations in the past 8 months. In a post on X, Dubai Police warned that “improper use of electric scooters puts your life and the lives of others at risk.” Police said violators will be fined Dh300. The post showed video clips of e-scooter riders using undesignated zones such as highways, underpasses. One was caught riding with a passenger. The police also issued a similar warning to cyclists, saying those caught riding a bicycle in a way that endangers the cyclist or the life and safety of others will also be fined. In Dubai, e-scooter users are required to have a permit to use the vehicles in designated zones. ICA/Expat Media
