Dubai Police has recovered Dh123,000 worth of stolen medical supplies and returned them to a shocked store owner—who hadn’t even realized the theft had occurred. The Al Raffa Police Station made the recovery following an investigation by their Intelligence and Security Teams Unit. The thieves had been quietly stealing medical products from the store’s warehouse over a period of time. Brigadier Ghalib Al Ghafli, Acting Director of Al Raffa Police Station, said, “The resolution of this case underscores the effectiveness of these ongoing efforts.” He praised the unit for closing 738 cases and receiving 27 certificates of appreciation since its launch in 2023. Lieutenant Colonel Ali Al Awar, Head of the General Duty Section and the Intelligence Unit, detailed how officers noticed suspicious activity during routine patrols and took legal action. Upon investigation, the suspects were found in possession of a large quantity of medical items. “When questioned about their origin, the suspects confessed to stealing them multiple times from a medical warehouse,” Al Awar said. Surveillance footage confirmed the repeated thefts. The store owner confirmed neither he nor his staff had noticed the thefts. “We only discovered the total value of the stolen products—Dh123,000—after the police informed us and helped us conduct an inventory,” he said.
