The diamond jewelleries recovered in Dubai. DUBAI POLICE

Dubai Police have recovered a bag containing diamond jewellery worth Dh1.1 million after it was mistakenly picked up by another passenger at the airport. The merchant, a Dubai resident, was en route to a trade exhibition in the Gulf and had packed four bags of diamonds. However, he mistakenly grabbed a bag belonging to a Bangladeshi passenger after passing through airport security. “The merchant only realised the error upon arriving at his destination, where he opened the bag to find it filled with clothes,” police said. He returned the luggage to Dubai and immediately reported the case. Using airport surveillance footage, Dubai Police identified the passenger who had taken the merchant’s diamond bag by mistake. In coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and authorities in Bangladesh, the police successfully retrieved the bag. “There are no words to thank the force for their efforts to recover the bag and the jewellery,” said the merchant. “Dubai Police are keen to spread happiness among society.” ICA/Expat Media
