Dubai Police recently intervened in a family dispute, ensuring the safe return of a mother and her two young children from a European country after they were left stranded by the father. The incident, which was resolved by the General Department of Human Rights, involved the application of Emirati law “Wadeema,” which emphasizes the protection of children's rights. The situation began when the mother, along with her two children, aged two years and five months, was sent on a vacation in Europe by her husband who only booked them one-way tickets. Upon arrival, she discovered that her husband had refused to pay for their living expenses or return tickets, prompting her to seek assistance from the UAE embassy. Major Rashid Nasser Al Ali, Head of the Child Protection Section at Dubai Police, the embassy immediately contacted Dubai authorities to resolve the matter. “ refused to cover the children's expenses and return tickets, prompting her to seek assistance from the embassy to resolve the situation for her family,” he added. Dubai Police reached out to the father, emphasizing the importance of his children's well-being and explaining the provisions of the Wadeema law, which safeguards children's rights. Following these discussions, the father agreed to provide financial support and book return tickets for his family. The police closely monitored the situation to ensure the safe return of the family to Dubai. In addition to facilitating their return, Dubai Police enrolled the children in the “Safe Child” program, which ensures a stable and secure environment for them. The Child Protection Section continues to receive and follow up on all child-related complaints, with reports being handled through various channels, including the Dubai Police website and app. Dubai Police also encourages the public to remain vigilant and report any instances where children's rights are at risk.
