An Arab tourist who lost Dh3,000 in a Dubai shopping centre has praised Dubai Police after officers located the missing money and transferred it to her bank account just hours after she had already returned to her home country. The successful recovery operation was carried out by the Tourist Police Department under the General Department of Criminal Investigation at Dubai Police. According to Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abdul Rahman, Director of the Tourist Police Department, the tourist filed a report through the tourist support service available on the Dubai Police smart application before leaving the UAE. The woman informed authorities that she had misplaced Dh3,000 while visiting a shopping centre but was unable to return to search for it because she was scheduled to fly home.

Lt. Col. Abdul Rahman said Dubai Police immediately assured the tourist that her case would be investigated and that the funds would be transferred to her if recovered. A field team from the Shopping Centres Security Section of the Tourist Police Department was assigned to the case and began reviewing the tourist’s movements inside the shopping centre. Investigators successfully traced the missing money to one of the stores in the mall. Within two hours, officers located the entire amount and verified it against the details provided in the report, including the value and number of banknotes. Authorities then contacted the tourist and arranged for the money to be transferred directly to her in her home country. The tourist said she was surprised by the speed of the response and the fact that Dubai Police continued communicating with her even after she had left the UAE. She expressed her happiness at recovering the lost money and admitted she had not expected to see it again. The visitor said she was particularly impressed that the money had been recovered in a busy shopping centre and praised Dubai's reputation for safety, honesty and efficient public services.
