A Dubai Police official has revealed the top three traffic violators caught reckless driving in Dubai in the last three months. Dubai Police's traffic campaign, which ran from July to September, resulted in the impoundment of 176 vehicles and the issuance of 251 traffic fines. According to Dubai Police, the crackdown aimed to curb dangerous driving behaviors that have become increasingly prevalent in residential areas, including chaotic stunts and disturbances that endanger public safety. Major General Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, Director of the General Department of Traffic, revealed that the majority of violators involved in reckless stunts were tourists visiting Dubai. According to police data, the highest number of violators were of Asian descent, accounting for 80 violations. They were followed by Emiratis (40), Europeans (29), and Africans (7). Individuals from other nationalities accounted for 95 of the violations recorded. “These reckless drivers pose a serious threat to the safety of other road users. Many of them engage in dangerous behaviors, such as hanging out of windows or sitting on the roofs of moving vehicles, for the sake of recording videos and attracting attention on social media,” Al Mazrouei said. The crackdown covered various areas of Dubai, with hotspots including Nad Al Sheba and Al Meydan Street, where offenders deliberately disrupted traffic to perform stunts. Dubai Police also released video footage showing vehicles involved in illegal activities, including reckless driving on the Meydan Bridge. Al Mazrouei emphasized that such actions not only violate traffic rules but also encourage others to follow suit, creating a cycle of dangerous driving practices. Under Dubai’s traffic laws, violators face severe penalties, including fines of up to Dh50,000. In some cases, vehicles may be permanently seized. Dubai Police have urged the public to report reckless driving using the 'Police Eye' feature in their app or by calling the "We Are All Police" service.
