Dubai Police seize more than 4,000 vehicles, motorcycles in first half of 2023

Dubai Police seized 4,172 vehicles for traffic violations including illegal car modifications and causing disturbances to residents. During the same period, 8,786 electric scooters and bicycles were seized for not meeting technical requirements set by executive council resolution which aligns with Dubai's goal of becoming a bicycle-friendly city. The announcement came during the Q2 performance review meeting of the General Department of Traffic, led by Lieutenant General Abdullah Khalifa Al Marri, Dubai Police's Commander-in-Chief. Lt. Gen. Al Marri highlighted the vital role of the Traffic Department in managing road safety, aligned with the goal of lowering the traffic fatality rate per 100,000 people. He also emphasized the department's teamwork in raising community awareness, collaborating with various government departments, police stations, and public and private entities to achieve their goals. During the meeting, Lt. Gen. Al Marri assessed performance indicators and initiatives in the department, including awareness campaigns, severe accidents, accident causes, and common violations. Major General Abdullah Ali Al Ghaithi, Brigadier Juma bin Suwaidan, and Brigadier Dr. Saleh Al Hamrani, along with other senior officers, attended the meeting. MFD/Expat Media
