Dubai Police issued an SMS alert to motorists and residents on Tuesday (October 14), warning of heavy traffic congestion and full parking areas around the Dubai World Trade Centre on the second day of GITEX Global 2025. “Roads leading to Dubai World Trade Center area congested. Please use alternative routes if the Trade Center Area is not your destination. – Dubai Police,” read the text alert received by Expat Media editors. Digital traffic boards across the city also displayed warnings that parking at Centerpoint and Etisalat Metro station areas were full. Authorities urged commuters heading to the city’s central districts to take public transport or alternative routes to ease congestion. The warning came as GITEX Global 2025 drew massive crowds for its second day. The world’s largest technology and AI event was inaugurated on Monday (October 13) by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Now in its 45th year, the monumental exhibition is hosting over 6,800 exhibitors, 2,000 startups, 1,200 investors, and delegates from more than 180 countries. The event runs until October 17 at Dubai World Trade Centre. Organizers said this year’s edition reflects “the accelerating fusion of technology, economic strategy, and geopolitical ambition,” positioning Dubai as a global hub for tech innovation and collaboration.
