A traveller who lost a handbag containing silver bars worth approximately Dh2 million at Dubai International Airport has praised Dubai Police after officers successfully tracked down and returned the valuables. The incident happened at Terminal 1 when the Asian passenger realised he had misplaced the black handbag shortly before boarding his flight. According to Colonel Abdullah Faisal Al Dosari, a patrol officer was carrying out a routine security inspection in the departure hall when the passenger reported the loss. Upon receiving the report, the operations room immediately reviewed the traveller’s movements and dispatched officers to conduct a coordinated search across the terminal. The bag was located after an intensive search. “When officers opened and verified its contents, they found silver bars valued at approximately Dh2 million,” Col. Al Dosari said. After confirming ownership through official documentation, the bag was formally returned to the passenger in accordance with legal procedures, with an official receipt issued. The traveller thanked Dubai Police for what he described as their professionalism and efficiency. He expressed deep appreciation for the speed of the response and praised the General Department of Airport Security for their dedication.
