Two Dubai police officers were praised for their quick response to a drowning emergency within five minutes of receiving the report. According to Brigadier Hassan Suhail, Director of the Ports Police Station, the incident started with a report sent to the Command and Control Centre at the General Department of Operations of a European woman drowning while swimming at Marina beach. Corporal Amjad Muhammad Al Balushi and Corporal Khamis Muhammad Al Aisai, the marine security patrol on duty, "quickly arrived, rescued the woman, and gave immediate assistance until the ambulance arrived". He awarded the two officers with certificates of appreciation and honoured them for their excellence and dedication to their duty in ensuring the safety and security of the community. Brigadier Hassan Suhail also urged beach and pool-goers to follow safety guidelines. These guidelines include not swimming if unable to do so, not leaving children unattended in the water, swimming only in designated areas, swimming only when a lifeguard is present, wearing appropriate swimwear, avoiding swimming under the influence of drugs or alcohol, refraining from reckless behaviour in the water, not swimming immediately after eating, and only swimming in designated night-swimming areas after sunset.
