Dubai Police has launched an investigation into a viral video showing tourists mocking a Muslim woman dining in a burqa. The video, shared on X (formerly Twitter), has amassed over 2.6 million views and ignited online outrage. The video clip shows the burqa-clad woman eating in a restaurant as laughter is heard from the person behind the camera. It appears the video was taken without the woman’s consent, violating UAE privacy laws. Responding to the issue, Dubai Police confirmed they are looking into the incident. “The matter has been transferred to the relevant authority for necessary action,” according to Dubai Police. Many social media users condemned the video as culturally insensitive and disrespectful. “This is a violation of privacy and cultural norms. Accountability is necessary,” one user commented. Others called for education to prevent such incidents. “Tourists should be informed about UAE laws and cultural sensitivities,” said another. The UAE, known for its strict cybercrime laws, prohibits filming individuals without consent and enforces penalties for such offenses. ICA/Expat Media
