Dubai Police have issued a warning about the dangers of drowsy driving after a truck driver fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into another truck. The collision occurred in the early hours of Wednesday on Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Road, heading towards Abu Dhabi before Al Maktoum roundabout. The driver was injured, and the crash caused heavy traffic delays. Brig. Jumaa bin Suwaidan, director of Dubai Police’s General Department of Traffic, confirmed that fatigue was the cause. “Initial reports showed the driver fell asleep while driving, lost control, and crashed into the truck in front of him,” Brig. bin Suwaidan said. He stressed that driving while tired significantly impairs reaction time and concentration, increasing the risk of serious accidents. “Drowsy driving causes deaths and serious injuries,” he warned.
