The Anti-Fraud Centre at the Dubai Police General Department of Criminal Investigation has warned the public against a surge in fraudulent job advertisements spreading across social media and online platforms. The ads promise easy part-time jobs with attractive pay, but police say they are often fronts for illegal schemes, including money laundering, fake account setups, and fund transfers from unknown sources. “These deceptive offers are traps used by fraudsters to lure victims into illegal activities that could even expose them to legal accountability,” Dubai Police said in a statement. The warning forms part of the force’s Cybersecurity Awareness Month campaign, which aims to educate residents on avoiding online fraud. Police urged job seekers to verify the authenticity of employers, never share personal or banking details with unknown parties, and avoid offers requiring money transfers or account information. Residents are encouraged to report suspicious job ads via the eCrime platform or by calling 901. “Public awareness remains the first line of defence against fraudsters,” Dubai Police emphasized, urging vigilance as online scams continue to evolve. The department reminded the public that falling for such scams could result not only in financial loss but also in criminal liability if one’s personal information is used for illegal transactions.
