A Dubai Police official warned motorists against distracted driving after a man was fined for broadcasting a live Instagram video while driving. The incident happened on Sheikh Zayed Road on Friday, police said. Social media users, including the Dubai Crown Prince, alerted the police about the incident. Responding to the complaints, the Dubai Police checked the man's Instagram account and caught him while he was doing live broadcast. He was notified of a fine in a comment that Dubai Police posted in his live feed. The motorist was fined Dh800 and given four black points for distracted driving. Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazroui, director of traffic department at Dubai Police, reminded motorists that many accidents happen due to distracted driving. Al Mazroui warned social media influencers against making live videos while driving, saying that the Dubai Police is on the alert for such violations. More than 16,000 motorists have been fined in Dubai for using their phones while driving in just the first three months of 2017. DAJ/Expat Media
