Authorities in Dubai Police have warned residents about a growing number of fraudulent insurance companies operating online, urging the public to verify licences before making any payments. In an advisory issued on Saturday (April 4), police said scammers are increasingly using social media platforms to promote fake insurance services. According to Dubai Police, these unlicensed entities attract victims by advertising unusually low prices for vehicle and health insurance, often paired with promises of quick processing. “These fake companies publish appealing advertisements featuring significantly lower prices than those available in the market,” Dubai Police said. “They claim to provide fast and immediate vehicle or health insurance services through seemingly attractive deals.” Authorities explained that some residents fall victim by paying upfront without checking whether the company is legally authorised to operate in the UAE. Dubai Police stressed that all legitimate insurance providers in the country are regulated by official authorities and must follow strict procedures to issue policies and protect customers. The public has been urged to verify the credentials of insurance firms and brokers before completing any transaction, and to avoid offers that appear too good to be true. Police also noted that specialised teams are actively monitoring fraudulent activities and taking legal action against offenders, but reminded residents that awareness remains the first line of defence.
