The Dubai Police has issued an urgent alert to the public, warning them against phishing emails about fake fines and service fees. “Scammers are using deceitful tactics, urging recipients to click on a link to pay fines and service fees. We urge community members to exercise caution and stay vigilant, as well as to verify the authenticity of any email claiming to be from Dubai Police to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent practices,” according to Dubai Police in a Twitter post. In Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Police has also issued a similar warning against fake messages, urging the public not to click on links in unsolicited emails or SMS. The new scam has spread recently, with target victims being sent a fake email impersonating the Dubai Police and even popular delivery companies. The email would prompt the victim to pay fees. A similar scam is also doing the rounds via SMS and WhatsApp messages. Companies such as Aramex, Emirates Post and FedEx have all issued warning against scam SMS, social media messages and emails, advising customers to only use their official website and apps.
