POLO enhances online contract verification for faster service

Shortly after introducing the service, POLO Dubai increased the scope and capacity of its online system. With the tagline “Save Time. Go Online”, the online verification system is expected to provide a fast and easy way for OFWs to have their employment documents verified. The system initially only accepted workers with confirmed flights on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, capping the weekly total at 300 people. In August, the system started accepting even those without flight booking, thereby covering all Dubai and Northern Emirates OFWs and all days of the week at a limit of 600 persons weekly. The online verification of documents has an average approval rate of 80 to 85 percent. Employees are urged to avoid rejection by adhering to the guidelines and complying with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) requirements for contract verification. The POLO-Dubai system is an alternative to the conventional verification method wherein OFWs wait in long lines to submit their documents physically. Online submission forms are open every Monday and close only until the limit is reached. In the online system, employees must fill out a short online submission form and supply the necessary information to process their paperwork. Evaluation results are sent to the applicants through email one week after submission. Those with the approved application will receive instructions on collecting and paying for the documents. Disapproved submissions are notified of their application deficiency and are given guidance on correcting such. This initiative is consistent with the directive of the Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Susan “Toots” Ople to ease and facilitate the processing of documents of OFWs. A verified employment contract is necessary for OFWs who have never been registered or have no record of deployment with the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
