With the UAE’s rainy season fast approaching, the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) has issued a safety advisory urging residents to take preventive measures to avoid electrical hazards and ensure uninterrupted power supply. The announcement on Monday (November 4) comes as DEWA emphasizes the importance of securing external electrical connections in residential and commercial properties to reduce the risk of electricity outages during inclement weather. The authority advised residents to conduct regular maintenance checks on electrical systems and ensure that all external electrical connections, panels, and meter boxes are waterproofed and insulated. "Maintaining these critical areas can help prevent disruptions in power supply and ensure the safety of our community," a DEWA spokesperson said. To minimize risks, DEWA recommends that residents use only qualified electricians for maintenance and secure electrical panels properly. The authority also encourages homeowners to replace any broken glass covers on meter boxes and seal all roof-level electrical conduits to protect against moisture entry. For technical emergencies, DEWA advises residents to call their emergency helpline at 991. DEWA is also sharing safety tips and guidelines through its social media platforms and website, ensuring that residents remain informed during the rainy season.
